Ernest Hemmingway's influence on his book In 1995, Scribner published "The Short Stories of Ernest Hemmingway." These were just a few of some of Ernest Hemmingway's many short stories. In many writer's opinions they will tell you that Ernest Hemmingway wrote some of the best short stories of his time. In "The Short Stories of Ernest Hemmingway" he writes a story called "Soldier's Home." As with many of his stories that he writes, Hemmingway adds similar features or certain events in the story that are very significant to events or people that he had met in his life. Ernest Hemmingway never experienced to much happiness, and ended his life with a shotgun on July 2, 1961. As is typical of Hemmingway's fictional heroes, Harold has lost his belief in religion, tradition, and "family values" (Bernardo par. 5). Ernest Hemmingway based many of the views he had in life through the story "Soldier's Home." Through the characters and their ideas, he showed his feelings and thoughts on specific subjects. Harold Krebs' experience and memories of World War I can be based upon what Hemmingway experienced also in World War I .
