College Major Compare and Contrast
Right now I'm stuck between what major I want to pursue in college. I'm in my second year of accounting right now, and not only do I like it, but I'm doing pretty well also. The concepts come easy to me unlike some other things (comma rules for example). But I don't know if I want to be stuck in an office all day doing accounting stuff. Do I want to become some preppy business person who becomes snobby and conceited? At the current moment, I am undecided, but maybe this essay will change my decision. Or maybe I want to go into computer science. I know so much about computers and related stuff. I've been around computers for years. A computer major would force me to take classes in programming. Based on my previous experience, I'm thinking I wouldn't do too well. Maybe it was just the teacher I had, but programming doesn't really trip my trigger. I'm not positive on the other classes I'd be taking, but I'm sure they would be technology-oriented. On the topic of jobs, there is also the problem of what actual job I want. Accounting has a few different fields. I can be a tax accountant and work for the government, work for a company, or be a private accountant. Computers on the other hand have hundreds of different fields. I could go into tech support, programming (well, no), software engineering, web design, graphic design, network administration, or many more that I can't think of right now. simple things but hardcore graphic editing is still weakness, as is programming. I took C++ a few years ago and failed horribly (partially because the teacher was not the brightest).
