Global Climate

The present situation of the global climate and more importantly the action taken to move toward safer environmental prospects is the issue in the sphere of climate change. However, in order to fully understand this topic a brief introduction of the sources of climate change, it's subsequent effects and an explanation of why humans should be concerned is necessary. Only after considering that background, can present conditions and initiatives be comprehended to their full importance.

Like that of a human, the temperature or climate of the world must be maintained at certain levels in order to sustain life. The Earth's climate is a delicate balance between many natural and human forces. Solar energy, climate depends on this factor the most. Although one third of all solar energy is reflected back in space by the Earth's upper atmosphere, the two-thirds that do penetrate the Earth's atmosphere is the major proponent of weather. The atmosphere itself plays more of an ambiguous role. Cloud formation is a significant component of our atmosphere. It is known to shield solar rays yet still can be guilty of trapping heat in the atmosphere and yet sometimes is also found to let heat escape into space. However unpredictable the o

There were studies that confirmed the humans would be affected. Such as in the instance of the "North Sea cod, which is the foundation of a number of economies, an important food source and a species whose future many people would be able to predict." [From an article "Extensive Research Confirms Life On Earth Now Being Affected By Global Warming"] Commercial fishing the North Sea cod endures only exacerbates climate-related stresses and decreases the probability of juvenile cod reaching adulthood. Such intense human and environmental stress on an animal population "result in an almost impossible guessing game of predicting whether the population will be pushed over a threshold beyond which it cannot survive if environmental conditions suddenly change." This brings scientists to the conclusion that it is difficult to impossible to predict how specific species at specific locations will react at any point in the future. This unpredictability and complexity is very bad news for government policymakers who want reliable information to guide decisions upon. This leads to the question of what can be done to improve our climate change or global warming situation.

Returning to the analogy of the Earth as a human, westernized medicine has the reputation of treating the side effects of illness and in general letting the body take care of source of problem. This practice is virtual impossible in the case of the climate change or global warming that threatens the Earth because the "side-effects" as already explained are vast, unpredictable and complex.

verall affect of the atmosphere on the Earth's temperature, it does indeed affect it. What is certain about the atmosphere's affect is the existence of heat trapping Green House Gases (GHGs), including water vapor, CO2, methane and nitrous oxide that heat the Earth's surface by blocking heat's
