The miracle worker was the story of Annie Sullivan and her efforts to teach a girl named Helen Keller who was blind, deaf, and therefore mute. Everything started when Helen's parents realized that Helen was getting out of control and was starting to become a problem. After thinking about several ways to help Helen, they decided to hire Annie to teach Helen manners, discipline, and if there was any hope, a way to communicate.
