A detailed Summary of State Wrestling

The Mini Dome at Idaho State University in the home of the 2003 Idaho High School State Wrestling tournament. Wrestlers from all over the state come here to compete to see who is the "best of the best." This is where the strong prevail and the weak go home empty handed. Anything that has happened before this tournament has no bearing on what is going to take place.

It has been a year and a day since I had been to a tournament of this magnitude. As I walked down the ramp to the main floor, I could smell the anticipation, anxiety, and the fear. It was a well-welcomed smell. It gave me a sense of being at rest again. This is what I lived for throughout my high school career and I was finally back, not as a wrestler, but as a spectator this time. I could hand that, just as long as I could get in all three days of wrestling.

Aberdeen, my main focus, had thirteen wrestlers to make it to the state tournament after they had successfully taken the fifth district title for the first time in twelve years. This was their year to shine and prove to everyone that they here to stay.

e to attend the first day of the matches, therefore, I had to learn the result from the brackets. Aberdeen pulled through with ten wrestlers for the second day. I spent most of my time walking around and mingling with fellow die-hard wrestlers and fans. Most of whom had been my opponent while I was in high school.

The second day of wrestling was not good for Aberdeen, they only had three wrestlers move onto the final matches on the third day, though all of them were in the championship finals. The final's round of the tournament began on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with the parade of champions. After the parade they proceeded with the final matches of each division of schools and weight. I stood so close to the match that it felt almost like I was there to wrestle in the tournament.

As I watched the quarter-final championship round for two hours, there were more upsets in on the first seeded wrestlers that I had ever seen before.
