Derailed (An alcholic journey)
The party was in bloom and my balance was unsteady from the amber fluid behind the yellow label named Kessler. My eyes drooped and my speech sounded like it was being translated through a blender. I went to my bedroom to pass out. In the bedroom I leaned on a chair and boom the floor said hello. As I picked myself of the floor, Jeff asked," What are you doing?" "Going to bed," came the matter of fact statement as I pulled off my sweater, my eyes rolled back, and I fell over stiff as a board. I don't recall hitting the bed, which was on the floor. That was me on a typical Friday or Saturday night when I drank. It all started back in my freshman year of college. My suite mates and I wanted something to do on a Friday night and began drinking. When this happens, I think back to when I was in high school and involved in D.A.R.E. I was given a red and black shirt with the name of the organization across the front. After I drank that first drink I could no longer wear the emblem of "JUST SAY NO.' I knew I wasn't practicing what I preached and no longer was worthy. Lou asked me a series of questions, and I had and answer for them all. Its been two years since my train derailed. My climb out of the tunnel is not over. There are days that nothing seems to go right. Days when my head pounds, ulcers flare, and I want to explode like a volcano. That's when my demon beckons, taunts, and tries to seduce me all over again.
