Does violence in media affect people? Violence is a common sight in media today whether it is seen on the television, Internet, or heard on the radio. Violence is all around society. It is what many people want to see. Some of these same people want to act out the violence they are witnessing. Yes, I believe that violence in media affects people. It affects how people think, act, and speak. Some of people's actions are more affected by others, but the fact is that it still affects people. Violence affects how people think in that people may react to certain situations, in a violent manner, because of what they have seen or heard. If someone is watching a television show and he or she sees an actor react violently in a certain situation, then they might think and believe that a violent reaction is the way to go. They may think that since the TV person acte
d that way, so can they. This is especially true with children. Children have more of a tendency to mimic what they see and hear without forming their own opinion. Another example is if every time a person watches the news, they see minorities committing crimes and acting violently. Since this is what that person is seeing, they may start to think that all minorities commit crimes and act violently. This type of stereotyping is common in our society. In conclusion, I believe that violence in the media affects people. I believe it affects how people think, talk, and act. Children follow what they see and hear. They follow what the person on television is doing because they are unaware to separate real world from television land. Adults also follow what they see and hear.
