Abortion
Abortion is the toughest decision for an unfortunate woman to face in her lifetime. The decision for a minor is no easier, and a minor faces even more obstacles to receive an abortion in over 30 states. These 30 states require all pregnant minors , a minor being classified as a woman under the age of eighteen, to receive parental consent or judicial bypass. These are laws only for minors; judicial bypass requires a minor to consult with a judge to receive an abortion, and parental consent requires the minor to have their parents permission to receive an abortion. This is never an easy task, and can not always be done, therefore forcing minors to receive illegal and deadly abortions. Some states make it so hard for these young women to get an abortion; they are taking away minors abortion rights by requiring judicial bypass, where a minor can get consent from a judge rather than a parent, or parental consent, which requires consent by a parent for their child to receive an abortion. Abortion is often seen as right or wrong, when in all actuality it should be seen as the right of a human being as Roe vs. Wade decided in 1973. New York State recognizes this, and "[...] is one of the states with the fewest
There are various Pro-Choice, in favor of letting a woman have a choice, organizations which are in favor of New York State giving minor's the right to make their own decision. Roe v. Wade dealt with an adult woman's right to an abortion, later the Supreme Court has decided this decision was extended to minors as well. This is now a right of minors. They do not need anyone's approval. However, all these Pro-Life groups refuse to acknowledge this right and continue to fight on. There should be no controversy, a right was given, and people should respect it, even if it may not seem right. These groups have agreed with this decision and are working on states that require parental consent or judicial bypass. The Supreme Court has ruled that states may not give absolute veto power over a daughter's decision to have an abortion. Since there is no Federal Law each state deals with abortion their own way, some favoring pro-life and some favoring pro-choice. I feel that no one should be forced to have a baby, the decision is tough enough, and calling in a judge or parent doesn't make it easier. In the case of rape or incest is abortion still wrong? There should be no reason a raped teenager should be forced to keep the child. The minor has gone through enough to decided whether or not they should keep the baby. First you tell a woman that she can't have an abortion, that she has to keep this baby, and next what religion we are will be decided for us too. By making New York change their policy you are changing the way of life for many young women. New York has respected the fact that a right was given. Changing the law would simply show disrespect for highest legislative branch in the Nation. Abortion is not a crime, it is a right of a human being. People always fail to see this in today's society. People always relate to abortion to being morally wrong. No one understands what these young women are going through. And if these Pro-Choice groups didn't exist these teens would have a tough time. No one wants an abortion, and they don't try to have one. No one realizes the pain this will bring the young mother. And yet states want their parents to get involved as well as judges. What will benefit by having a mother and father saying it is O.K. for their daughter to get an abortion? It is her body and it is her right. Taking away these privileg
