3 Presidents

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe have contributed to the establishment of a stable democratic society.

First, George Washington played a significant role in history, because he was the first president of the United States. He set many precedents during his years in office. George Washington made many wise decisions while he was the president. One of the wisest is that he chose to remain neutral during the war between France and Britain. He chose not the take sides in foreign wars, because he knew that the United States was not ready to be involved in another war. His decision stabilized the democratic society by allowing peace to flow through the nation during his presidency. He stated this in The Proclamation of Neutrality on April 22, 1793, "...to exhort and warn the citizens of the United States carefully to avoid all acts of proceedings whatsoever..." With his wise decision to stay neutral, other presidents that came after him also made the same decision. This enabled the United


Lastly, James Monroe should also be honored for the contribution of a stable democratic society because of many things. Monroe's commitment was to make the government better and to allow the citizens to trust him by telling them his plan during his presidency. He stated this in Monroe's First Inaugural Address,"...my attention is naturally drawn to the great causes which have contributed in a principal degree..."He worries about the causes which brings down the nation. This shows that he cared for the United States and wanted to help the young nation form into a great democratic society that we have today. Another wise decision that Monroe made involved the acquisition of Florida to enter the United States. By allowing Florida to join the United States, it opens a passage to the ocean and future peace with the Indians, which will cause fewer wars to occur. Another thing that was important that Monroe did was that he wrote the Monroe Doctrine. He cared about the safety of his people. He wrote this to warn
