Animal farm Analysis Essay

George Orwell's Animal Farm is a novel based around how the animals of 'Manor Farm' overthrew their human master, after they were mistreated and fed very little by Mr Jones and his workers. Orwell tells about the events that occurred when the animals tried to run the farm, however Napoleon's failure to lead well results in damaging consequences for the welfare and the interests of other animals on the farm.

After the rebellion took place the animals put in writing the Seven Commandments by which all of the animals would live. From this point all of the animals were supposed to be treated equally and were to have a better way of life, but this didn't happen. The animals were told by Snowball "...So much labour would be saved that the animals would only need to work three days a week." Napoleon didn't agree with what Snowball had told them, but when Napoleon had Snowball expelled, and the windmill went ahead, the animals still believed what had been told to them by Snowball and that is they would only need to work three days a week once the windmill was built. Napoleon didn't attempt to tell the animals any different from what Snowball did. A good leader would have explained all of the possible consequences that could be faced, good or bad, but because Napoleon was taking advantage of the animals, he didn't want them to know all of the possible outcomes.

The Seven Commandments meant very little to Napoleon. The sixth commandment says that "No animal shall kill any other animal", but when Napoleon and his dogs executed the animals that showed reluctance and resistance for
