Adderall

Adderall is a prescription drug. It is a stimulant that acts on the central nervous system. Adderall is an amphetamine used to treat ADD (attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). Adderall and Ritalin are the two drugs used to treat ADD or ADHD.

The FDA approved on February 21st, 1996. It was the wholesaler's warehouses by March 11th, 1996. The Richwood Pharmaceutical Company makes Adderall. Adderall was formally known as Obetrol up until April of 1994, but the formula has not changed since the 1970's.

Before the public was aware that it was used for ADD and ADHD, students at prep schools and high pressure colleges discovered it and used it as an alternative to caffeine, speed, or to just reach a natural high. Adderall is a very strong stimulant.

Adderall comes in two different forms, both available in double- scored tablets but ten and twenty milligrams. The ten-milligram pill is blue and the twenty-milligram pill is pink. It should be taken whole, do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. It can be taken with or without food. If a patient misses a dose it should be taken as soon as possible. But if more than one dose is missed then the patient should continue as if no

A patient should make sure that he or she knows how he or she reacts to Adderall before driving, using machinery, or participating in any other dangerous activities. The effects of Adderall can be felt after a couple of doeses or even after the first dose. Maximum benefit of the drug is achieved three to four weeks.

Some rare side effects of Adderall are an irregular heartbeat, hair loss, decreased blood cell count, psychosis, anemia and rashes. Adderall may cause some people to feel dizzy and have a false sense of well-being. It is a possibility that one could feel light headed and less alert.

There are many medicines used to treat ADD and ADHD, another common one is Ritalin. In 1994, doctors stated that they preferred Adderall to Ritalin three to one. Adderall's effects last eight to ten hours usually only requiring one dose per day compared to a four hour drug requiring two to three doses of Ritalin. Adderall is intended for a child at school, he or she will not have to leave class to go to the nurse to take their medicine. This helps the student to not be known as the one with ADD or ADHD. It can get embarrassing. Adderall is given to the children on school days and not weekends, holidays or vacations. This is so the child does not beco
