The No Spin Zone

A Brief summary of "The No Spin Zone"

Bill O'Reilly has once again has taken on some of Americas most powerful people in his latest literary achievement titled "The No Spin Zone". In this attempt to unmask the almighty public opinion, O'Reilly takes on topics such as capital punishment, sex education in public schools, and the often offensive, lyrics found in today's rap music. Defend these topics are the "opponents" which O'Reilly bombards with questions, and in some cases these questions could be considered incriminating. But this prime piece of media does not always feature Bill facing off with the person in which he is discussing. For instance, O'Reilly speaks' strongly about Hillary Clinton, and her spending while residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, nor is she present during the chapter dedicated to her questionable campaign finance.

But to really get the gist of this book, one needs to be familiar with the term spin. Which in the case of this book, it is a term used in reference to people that disfigure facts so that the situation at hand appears to be in their favor. O'Reilly advocates facts that are brought out to the public, should be done so spin free.

It is apparent to me after reading Bill O'Reilly's "The No Spin Zone", that he had set out to do one thing, and that one thing is to expose the truth behind some of the mysteries behind modern politics. With this book, he enlightened me on some topics that I had previously found interesting, therefore kept me turning the pages, and for the most part enjoying every new topic that I approached. But this book also took some of the fun out of the political world by uncovering some of it mysteries. The "spin" is essential to keeping the enjoyment in studying the politics that take place here in America. The reason for my feelings being of this nature are simple, I enjoy reading between the lines to find the truth; which is partly why I enjoyed the book so much.

In the proceeding chapters, Mr. O'Reilly covers yet another subject, that topic being whether a parent should pursue a career versus staying at home with the child. The adversary is Dr. Schlassinger, argues that if one chooses to have children, they should not pawn the child off on another. O'Reilly, of course, feels that if the family is in need of a second income, then it would be beneficial for both parents to work, rather than to live their lives in financial disarray. (Chapter 4)

As expected, the parents of the victim are suing NAMBLA for a tidy sum, two hundred million dollars. But the association has a little piece of mind knowing that the, as Bill O'Reilly put it, "free speech big boys of the world" the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) has decided to defend them. In order to finance this venture, the ACLU is using its membership fees, with the ultimate goal of keeping the dysfunctional society out of court.

This next segment is a rarity in the sense that Bill O'Reilly does not take an opposing view to that of his guest.

Then without hesitation, the "zone" takes us to the Arizona Senator John McCain, who answers Bill's questions about Americas drug problem, and why the Senator has not done more to stop the trafficking that crosses his states borders with Mexico. (Chapter 12)

The next stop while traveling through the "zone" is on the theme of "Sex in your child's classroom", with the opponent being Dr. Joycelyn Elders, the former Surgeon General of the United Stat
