Abortion

Within the last 20 years or so, abortion has been one of the most intense topics being talked about in the United States and Canada. Abortion is a topic of human interaction where ethics, emotions, and the law come together. There are people that have dissimilar views of abortion, but no matter what their view is, they fall into two categories. There is pro-choice and the pro-life attitudes about abortion. These are the only two categories that people's views fall into. A pro-choice person feels that the choice to abort a pregnancy is that of the mother's and the government has no right to interfere. A pro-lifer feels that from the moment of conception, the embryo or fetus is alive. Since this embryo or fetus is alive and is a person, a woman has no moral right to abort the young life. If a woman aborted the embryo, then she would be committing murder.

Murder is such a strong word. Murder means deliberate and unjustified killing of another person. Pro-lifers use this word a lot as a way to show what happens when you abort an embryo or fetus. The mother doesn't want to kill a baby; she wants to stop the growth of an embryo before it becomes a baby. If the mother aborts the embryo at an early stage it has

Another issue surrounding abortion is when pregnant women are older and already have grown-up children and possibly even grandchildren. They no longer have the energy to efficiently take care of the child. From a medical standard these women and their babies are at a high risk for health problems. Some people are opposed to aborting the child because if the mother is capable of getting pregnant then she should have to take responsibility for having a child.

Those that are against abortion seem to think that women who opt to have abortions typically do so inconsiderately. They do not know that a decision in itself is already agonizing and a very painful thing for a woman. Can you really understand the issue of abortion unless you have been in the situation of possibly having one? What some people think is that having an abortion is an easy way out. A woman herself has to make a judgment on which is better for her. Many people try to force their beliefs on others and judge them for their decision on which is which. They then judge them for their actions. These people need to judge themselves before they start to judge others.

My personal opinion is that all women have the right to decide whether she wants to abort an unwanted pregnancy. Some women keep in mind that terminating a pregnancy might have to do with the health of the pregnant woman, or maybe this woman is unable to concentrate on the child's needs after it's born. Abortion may save a child who could potentially have a mental disease or have to suffer child neglect. Most common reasons for abortions to occur include
