Animal Farm

In George Orwell's Animal Farm the animals of this English farm decide to revolt in a time of despair. In the midst of the mass confusion, two pigs emerge as leaders of this new farm called "Animal Farm." These two pigs were Napoleon "a large and rather fierce-looking Berkshire boar, not much of a talker, but with a reputation for getting his way," and Snowball. In the beginning the farm prospers. The animals on the farm are easily deceived by the pigs that are corrupted by the ways of humans such as drinking. The pigs do numerous immoral acts, which they hide from the other animals, easily because the pigs believed to be a much more intelligent breed of animals. Napoleon and his dogs eventually drive Snowball out of the farm because of his threat to Napoleon. The animals build a windmill that is destroyed three different times. Several of the commandments are changed to fit the life style of the pigs. Eventually the animals of the farm see the pigs having a meeting with the humans but can't tell man from pig. In George Orwell's Animal Farm there are several main characters but the main protagonist is Napoleon and the main antagonists in the story are Snowball, the Humans, and the other animals of the farm.

that arises in the story is the humans and in particular Mr. Jones. Mr. Jones and Napoleon first come together when the animals decide to put their plan of rebellion into action. When they decided they were ready they caught Mr. Jones of guard and defeat him. This drives Mr. Jones to go and wallow in self-pity and get drunk, "Most of this time Mr. Jones had spent sitting in the taproom of the Red Lion, complaining to anyone who would listen...." For Napoleon this was a major accomplishment that led him through his power trip. Mr. Jones opposes Napoleon because Napoleon is the one who led this shameful rebellion against Mr. Jones. Their personalities differed greatly except when it came to human pleasures such as drinking and sleeping in a bed. They both abused alcohol and were both very corrupt in the sense that neither of them cared very much for the animals of the farm. But they were very different because Napoleon had more leadership skills and was very cunning he demonstrated this when he convinces all the animals that Snowball is the one behind all of attacks on the windmill "Snowball has done this thing! In sheer malignity, thinking to set back our plans and avenge himself for his ignominious expulsion, this traitor has crept here under cover of the night and destroyed our work of nearly a year." Napoleon eventually achieves his goals of ruling the Manor and controlling all of the animals there. But what he doesn't realize is that in his attempt to be almighty of the farm he becomes exactly what he set out to over come, a human, "The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say
