Aristotle's Meaning of Life
From reading Aristotle's philosophies and point of view of life, he gave me the impression that the laws of nature are the boundaries in which humans' lives and the meaning of life evolves around this boundary. Aristotle strongly believed that humans behaved and lived within the laws of nature and there were no Gods and no supernatural forces that affected the way humans could behave or interact. Aristotelian universe is an interaction between form and matter and that every single thing in the universe surrounded and behaved according to the order and purpose of nature. Aristotle also believed that form and matter are two important aspects to meaning of life and that both form and matter are required in order to complete life. Aristotelian form could be absent from matter but it cannot exist independently of matter. According to Aristotle, form is what makes a substance a substance and matters are the materials required in order making it into a substance. In addition, Aristotle also emphasized that in order to understand what constitute a thing, we have to understand and question the four types of causes behind it: (1) Material Cause, (2) Formal Cause, (3) Efficient Cause, and (4) Final Cause. In addition, in order for people to live a "good life" Aristotle stated that "The good life must be lived fully; it is a process, an activity, a becoming, not a static condition". I also agree with this quote because happiness is not being measured by the amount of time that you get to play throughout a person's whole life, but at what have you accomplished throughout your life. There will never be books or guidance teaching you how to live a happy life because happiness according to each person is being measured differently. I believe that in order for a person to live a full life they have to feel that they have accomplished something to life and that it gives them a sense of reward. However, the reward does not have to be tangible, instead the reward is intangible most of the time. For example, when we do volunteer work we do not get tangible benefit from it, but we tend to be happier after doing the work. This is the case because we feel like we have done something good for the society and we have shared part of our love and care to someone else who is in need of it. This get to the point of Aristotle's believes that all human beings are social animal. This fact is very true because throughout all of our life we have people keeping us company. For example, at birth we have our parents and siblings, once we reach adulthood we tend to find a partner who we can spend the rest of our life with. Finally Aristotle also believed that "it is impossible to affect the body without affecting the soul or to affect the soul without affecting the body". In my point of view I also believe that this fact is true, because the body and the soul is one. Even though that the soul is intangible and the body is tangible they all correlate to each other. The soul is what drives the body throughout everyday life and it is the body that helps the soul in accomplishing its goal. In conclusion, I believe that Aristotle does have lots of logical philosophies that can be used in the 21st c
