America has never forgotten Benjamin Franklin because of what he did. He wrote as much as he possibly could. He became famous for being a scientist, an inventor, a statesman, a printer, a philosopher, a musician, and an economist. Today, we honor Ben Franklin as one of our Founding Fathers and as one of America's greatest citizens. Although he was born in Boston, the city of Philadelphia is remembered as the home of Ben Franklin.Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 17, 1906, to Josiah Franklin (father), and Abiah Folger Franklin (mother). At the age of 12 Ben begins an apprenticeship in his brother James printing shop in Boston. Five years later at the age of 17, Ben leaves his family, and run's off to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 4 Benjamin moves to London, and continues his training as a printer; he returns to Philadelphia two years later. In 1728 he open's his own Printing Office in Philadelphia. A year later Ben is sole owner and publisher of the Pennsylvania Gazette. In 1730 he marries Deborah Read Rodgers. In 1731 Deborah gives birth to their first son William. In 1732 their second son Francis is born. In 1736 Benjamin's youngest son, Francis dies. In 1737 Ben is appointed Postmaster of Philadelphia. In 1742 Ben proposes the idea for the University of Pennsylvania. In 1743 Deborah gives birth to their first daughter, Sarah. Two years later, Ben's father (Josiah Franklin) passes away. In 1748 Ben sells the Printing Office, and retires from business. In 1751 Ben's book Experiments
