Body Piercing Tattooing
Throughout society, body piercing and tattoos are often seen as dirty, disgusting, irresponsible, and trashy. In my opinion, I feel as though body piercing and tattooing are good expressions of personality. I am absolutely for piercing and tattooing. When I came home from college one day, I randomly decided to get my tongue pierced. I had wanted it for a long time and I knew my mom wouldn't allow me to have it done, so I went through with it without her permission. I waited till I was the legal age of 18 in order to get it done. That night, I went back to my house and although my tongue was very swollen, nobody noticed. The only reason why my older sister noticed is because I yelled at her. I think that I wanted her to notice so I could see her reaction. My younger brother found out later that week and to my surprise, he did not tell my mother. My mom found out 3 weeks later when we got into a fight and started a yelling match. She said, "what is that in your mouth?". Thinking quickly, I replied, "um, nothing". I was scared to show her for fear of her reaction, but I showed her anyway realizing there was no way getting around it. My father was Israeli and my mom always told me that if my father were alive, he would rip out my tongue ring. My mother got used to it and now she does not care as long as I don't play with it in front of her. Although I have no desire to get one, she would never allow me to get a tattoo. Piercings have changed from traditional ear piercings all the way down to genital piercings. Body piercings can be temporary where as tattoos are indefinite and can only be removed by a very expensive laser surgery. You also have to be 18 years of age to get either done. Peer pressure and trend setting are big factors in body art. For example, I went down South Street with my best friend Stephanie who said that she really wanted to get something pierced and I did not believe her. I told her that she wouldn't do it; yet she went through with it and ended up getting her clitoral hood pierced. Now she wants to get something else done because she feels that it is addicting. In my opinion to her piercing, I personally wo
