A detailed Summary of Censorship on Pornography


Censorship of pornography continues to be a controversial issue; many arguments have been generated by this topic. I believe that censorship of pornography is wrong. Pornography is simply a depiction in words or pictures of sexual activity. Advocates of pornography claim it is a form of sex discrimination because it reinforces an inferior image of women and thus harms women's status. They argue that pornography also leads to physical abuse of women by increasing male aggression towards them. I believe in safeguards that restrict the access of certain sexually explicit material which some refer as "hard-core pornography". The First Amendment of the Bill of Rights allows us the freedom of speech, or of the press. When this was written over 200 years ago our founding fathers couldn't have imagined the degree to which these words would be taken.

After doing much research on the internet about censorship and pornography I have found that censorship conflicts with our Bill of Rights because it takes away our right to freedom of speech or the press. A woman has every right to exploit her body in any way she chooses. I do believe in guidelines and restrictions although I do think that there is much room for improvement. Censorship has been a very big controversial issue for a very long time now. After all my research on this issue I am truly against censorship of pornography.

If a merchant sells sexually explicit material to a minor that merchant should suffer a stiff penalty, possibly losing his/her license.

Although I am against censorship I am an advocate for safeguards on accessing certain "hard-core pornography". These safeguards should restrict the access to "hard-core pornography" to a person above a particular age. The restrictions are to protect children from being subjected to i
