Cognitive Development Study
The aim of this investigation is to observe and report on a child that attends Calvary Christian College, and asses their relative stage of development as determined by Jean Piaget. The child being studied in this investigation, CH4, is a preschool student currently attending Calvary Christian College. He is an outgoing child and is quite intelligent. The subject, CH4, attends Calvary Christian College, a small private school. The school's mission is to provide a distinctly Christian education, to strengthen the family and help prepare students to meet the challenges of life. 2:2 - PIAGET'S THEORY OF COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT Jean Piaget was a famous Swedish psychologist whose studies and theories on cognitive development have had a major impact on child psychology. Piaget suggested that children go through four separate stages in a fixed order that is universal in all children. These stages are: 1. Sensorimotor.........................................................0-2 years 2. Preoperational.......................................................2-7 years a. Preconceptual...............................
Subject's response: The experimenter's farm has more grass area. Piaget hypothesised that these stages differ not only in the amount of information acquired in each, but also in the quality of knowledge and understanding at that stage. When a child has been exposed to relevant types of experiences and reached an appropriate level of maturation, he or she progresses to the next stage of development. 4.3 - TECHNIQUES USED TO COLLECT DATA
