Corruption In Religion
In its essence religion is a set of beliefs, traditions, and practices that define the way in which people worship GOD. Its purpose is to create an individual connection with oneself and with GOD. Religion, when kept pure, has done remarkable things for mankind. But when it becomes corrupt, it is responsible for incredible suffering. The brilliant Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung once said, "If you have one man with a spiritual idea, WOW. If you have two men with the same spiritual idea, you have a committee. If you have a committee, you have politics." That is the path leading to corruption which almost all religions have stumbled down. In most cases, a religion arises from a good set of beliefs and teachings. People with similar beliefs and views become attracted and begin studying the teachings and practicing the religion. As the number of people grows, there is a need for organization. As soon as there is organization, money and power become involved. At this point, unscrupulous and power hungry individuals take control of the organization through manipulation and greed. In chapter 32 of Exodus, Moses travels to the top of Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments from GOD. While he was gone the Israelites began constructing a statue of a calf made entirely of gold. In verses 7-11, it is written that the Israelites began worshipping the golden calf as if it were GOD. This false worshipping of the idol was breaking the first commandment, 'Worship GOD exclusively,' and was an example of spiritual corruption. Spiritual corruption occurred when the priests who were appointed earlier, began teaching false teachings to the people, and causing them to believe that GOD was in the image of a golden calf. Since Erin allowed this to occur, he lost GOD's favor and all that worshipped the false idol were executed, and the golden calf was destroyed. More corruption of Judaism is seen in Bible in chapter 12 of Numbers. In verses 4-8, it speaks of how Miriam and Erin, who were the brother and sister of Moses, became jealous of their brother and the fact that GOD favored him. They started getting power-hungry and began plotting against Moses. This corrupted mentality angered GOD and as punishment, Miriam was struck with leprosy. Religion has played a major role throughout the history of mankind. It has been a major part of billions and billions of people's lives since the beginning of the human existence. Its corruption is unfortunate and has lead to incredible suffering, whether it be Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam, or any other religion of the world. We witness it everyday of our lives in forms of child molesting, wars, terrorism, and even fighting in Ireland. Religion can be a great thing, but as long as people blind themselves t
