They take great care and control of who knows of various illegal ventures and other dealings they may have, only letting out information to those who need to know. With skill they get lesser people to distribute narcotics and deal out punishments for failures. These people have a similar structure to that of the police department, with clerical duties and enforcers similar to t!

This failure would have had to be of a serious nature for such a punishment. The Hierarchy within the criminal element is similar to that of the police department. It too operates under male domination with policing and managerial duties tied to rank. Unfortunately there is a certain amount of mistrust between line officers and managerial staff. (6)

The organization known as the police force is a tight knit group of individuals that stand up for each other. Even when police officers are pointed out as criminals such as drug dealers, fellow officers defend them and the issue is closed. An example would be when an individual was incarcerated on weapon charges and identified the narcotics officer as one of the prime dealers for that particular area when asked for information. The person was then released and all information ignored, and the officer in question continued on his/her daily routine. (Anonymous 3)

This arrangement forces those who accept the deal to put their lives on the line, or even subject themselves to potential bodily harm if he or she is discovered to be an informant. A criminal's informant consists of someone who works within the police department relaying information back to the criminals or receives money for ignoring criminal activity and not reporting it. If these police officers on
