Cuban Missile Crisis

America, the ruthless super of this world has retained that status by means of using their vast economic wealth as well as their strategic manipulation among countries in need of their support. The Cuban Missile Crisis was an act of retaliation by both the Soviet Union and Cuba, to prevent America from having that particular "strong hold" on their countries. Though both Soviet Union and Cuba had been fueled by different reasons, Soviet Union was tired of being influenced by the "Westernization" America has promoted and wished to further Communism, and Cuba by the economic suppression and America's reluctance to better fund the economic development. In any case, it was understandable that both countries tried an attempt to better their positions in this world against America. The reasons why the Cuban Missile Crisis occurred was ultimately the reaction of Soviet Union's attempt to balance power between Communism and Democracy and the fact that America had missiles place in Turkey aiming at Moscow. As for Cuba, it was a way to be released from America's economic grasp and further benefit Cuba's development in both industry and economic development, as well to return a favor to the Soviet Union.

The conflict between the two countries escalated, and it furthered the frenzy of the possibility that there could possibly be a full out nuclear war, which might end the world. But it is obvious that neither of the countries would actually deploy such weapons on one another, because both knew each could retaliate with the same devastating weapon. Once Stalin died, Nikita Khrushchev took over the Soviet Union. He wished to make the policies less harsh of a dictatorship. Soon enough, both the President Eisenhower and Khrushchev held "face to face" meeting in which, they discussed the possibility of "open skies". It was a policy that would allow each other to examine one another through the use of spy planes to ensure that no surprise attacks would occur. Khrushchev declined the offer, but did firmly agree that in any case a nuclear war would be a disaster for both parties and that the reward would be unprofitable. America still uneasy about the Soviet Union's capabilities, the America government placed missiles on Turkey territory aiming them directly at Moscow. In response to balancing the power to fit both sides when the Cuban government was overthrown by Fidel Castro and became the first Communist government in the western hemisphere, it received support for the Soviet Union, much like America gave to the democratic followers. The Soviet Union began to make trade agreements with Cuba to help fund their economic development. In agreement the Soviets placed missiles in Cuba, to help Cuba in case America wanted to attack, due to the conflicts between Cuba and America regarding trade issues of denying export of sugar to America. The trade was based on the beginning of the sugar export, which further lead to the Soviet Union supplying machinery such as farming equipment and then military aid. Fidel Castro agreed to allow the Soviets to place missiles in Cuba and to point them towards America. The production of this missile operation was not told to the American President, John F. Kennedy. Until October 16, 1962, when a U2 spy plane recorded photographs, which illustrated Cuba missile abilities. America was now in a state of "National Emergency". The American government was debating whether or not to deploy a surprise attack, but John Kennedy, who claimed that there were peaceful resolutions to the problem, quickly diminished the thought. On October 22nd of the same year, a Cuban newspaper called "Revolucion" published maps displaying the positioning of American military. Soon after the Cuban troops were armed and ready to go. The missiles placed on Cuban territory were what Khrushchev claimed "not to start a war, but to simply avoid a war between Cuba and America". This whole panic attack was a overreaction of America because they too were in threat of being a target much like the Soviet Union was with the American missiles placed on countries like Turkey, West Germany, and Italy, which were aimed befor!
