Decision Making In The White House And It's End Result

When the United States suffers from vital issues concerning the fate of our country, the President of the United States is the one and only person who decides what to do then anticipate the outcome.

"The Cuban Missile Crisis of October 1962 was one of the turning points of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union (pg. 1, NSA and the Cuban Missile Crisis)," which went down as a very big deal in history. The Terrorist Attack of September 2001 however will go down in history as one of the most heinous attacks in the world. What the two major issues had in common was that the President of the United States had/has to decide whether or not retaliation is an option for them. This essay will cover the causes of the issues, how they were/are dealt with, and the upshot.

During the Cuban Missile Crisis, soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev collaborated with Cuban dictator Fidel Castro to have Soviet missiles shipped to


Khrushchev realized that the soviets had to yield. "The U.S. and the Soviet Union knew that they had nothing to gain from a missile exchange... When Khrushchev ordered his ships to stop, Kennedy made certain that his government did not sound triumphant (20th century heroes and villains)." As for the 'war on terrorism,' Bush wants to show future terrorists that if the U.S. is terrorized again, we will retaliate.

President Kennedy was smart to be able to negotiate with Khrushchev and not go into nuclear war. This seemed very likely since there was no serious terrorist attack. Bush seems determined to show the terrorists what we are made of, and we are fighting for thousands of innocent people that were killed in the World Trade Center attack.
