Depression is a potentially serious disorder that many people unfortunately deal with on a daily basis. Having dealt with someone who has had depression creeping up on them since they were four years old, I know a little about what it takes to live with a person like this. This relationship I am referring to is one between me and a girl with whom I spent four years of my life. It was a very serious relationship that meant a lot to both of us. The reason I am bringing this up is because you can learn a lot about a person in four years. The deepest, darkest secrets are shared. I can remember the first secret she told me. This secret alone made me realize something about her. She told me that when she was four, she was at a lake with her family on a vacation. I helped her through her depression, which became more and more present the deeper our relationship became.

It thus remains nearly incomprehensible to those who have not experienced it in its extreme mode..."
The difference I see between my girlfriend and Claire is how they both went about fixing their problem. Claire kept it all bottled up inside until the point that she snapped which was about the point that she went to William Styron. At this time she was practically worthless. She was so far into her depression that she saw absolutely no reason to continue with anything. Therefore, she didn't. Her brain told her to do that. My girlfriend on the other hand, was made by me to understand her problem. Luckily we pinpointed it at an early enough age and in time so that she did not get to the point that Claire did. I have also heard of people turning to god or religion to possibly help with problems such as depression. I fee
