Describe and Explain the teachings of the Religion
I will describe and explain the teachings Christianity holds about the relationship between humanity and the rest of creation. I will discuss the relationship different areas of humanity should have with the areas of creation they interact with most. These areas are the relationship with the environment, the relationship with God's creatures and the relationship with developing science and technology. I shall conclude, from a Christian point of view, with the belief that one should conduct their life according to their relationship with creation as a whole. The Bible affirms the goodness and intrinsic value of all living things; it points out commonalties between human beings and other living things; and it contains the mandate that we treat the natural world with care and respect. Such insights provide powerful grounds for environmental responsibility thus supporting the interpretation that man is on earth to serve God. Pollution is the cause for poor environmental conditions. Christians believe that they are 'employed' to look after the earth by God, as his stewards. They know they do not own it but are owned by it. For all of us have a limited time on earth. Only they believe that in such a short time, one should commit to lo
oking after the earth responsibly. Even if one is not religious, they still wish to live comfortably so they too should help to keep it in good condition. The health of mankind and other life on earth is at risk from pollution advocates, the pollutant gases of industry that react with sunlight and water falling as sulphuric and nitric acid. This kills certain aquatic plant and animal life. Nuclear waste is not safely disposed of and may eventually contaminate water reserves and the food we consume. Pesticides are hazardous to human health as are hazardous wastes. The most deadly pesticides and excess waste are exported to third world countries to rid their presence in d! Christianity not only believes the planet must be cared for, but its beauty should be preserved too. Caring for animals is seen as an act of righteousness (Proverb 12:10) and Christians believe they should promote it. eveloped countries. Christians would not approve of this because by doing this, mankind is simply polluting another part of God's creation. People are selfishly clearing up their local environment and reducing the quality of it elsewhere. More importantly, those who live in the third world countries are being greatly affected by waste disposal. Their health too is at risk and this selfishness reduces their quality of life. Christians believe in equality and to "love your neighbour as yourself". All of the biblical passages that command us to love our neighbor also have strong implications for environmental responsibility, even if one does not extend the notion of "neighbor" to include non-human creatures, as some theologians have done. As we better understand the dimensions of our environmental problems, it is clear that they are often connected to social injustices. We cannot adequately show love to our neighbors, therefore, without taking into account the environmental problems that affect them.
