The Odyssey 2

Love, separation, and determination are the traits shown by Penelope and Odysseus in the Odyssey by Homer. In the twenty-year separation that Odysseus and Penelope face, they both showed what they are made of. In times of desperation, both Odysseus and Penelope are very cunning, smart, and strong willed; different situations bring out these various traits from Odysseus and Penelope. Although it is difficult for both Odysseus and Penelope to be separated for twenty-years, their determination is what aids them through the hard times. Although many people say that "opposites attract," Odysseus and Penelope defy this saying. Determination, intelligence, and dependence on each other is what carries both Penelope and Odysseus thought their twenty-year journey.

Odysseus and Penelope are both very smart and cunning. Odysseus faced many dilemmas in his journey, and for every dilemma, Odysseus has a plan. When Odysseus faces the Cyclops, he knows not to kill the Cyclops until he opens up the slag door. He then ja


In addition to that, both Penelope and Odysseus were very strong willed, without strong wills, they would have both given up all hope. Throughout the whole journey, Odysseus always keeps his chin up, and never gives up. Even the smooth caves weren't an obstacle for Odysseus, he was always determined to return home. Penelope never once lost faith in Odysseus' return, even if other's opinions contradicted her beliefs. This will kept this kingdom of Ithaca up, and her hopes of Odysseus' return. Even with the twenty-year separation, both Odysseus and Penelope kept their marriage working. They were both apart for twenty years, but somehow, they keep their marriage together.
