Big Brother's Greatest Weakness

From what every other reader, and I, can infer from the first 185 pages of 1984 by George Orwell, is that Big Brother's greatest weakness is the existence of the Proletariat. In 1984, the Proletariat, or proles as Orwell dubs them, is the lowest class in the Oligarchian-Socialist society of Oceania. Even though, the proles are 'kept in line' they can be Big Brother's worst nightmare. Mobs of zealous working class and women, storming dark and gloomy halls of the four separate ministries, is a sight unwanted by Big Brother, or essentially the high social class which actually runs the party, otherwise known as the Outer Party.

The first reason that the proles are a major threat to INGSOC and the Outer party is because of sheer numbers. The Party members as a whole are only a fraction of the total population, while the proles number some 85% of the whole superstate. This does not even include the millions or tens or 100's of millions anti-Big Brother would-be conspirators, known as the Brotherhood. For all any of the party members know, they all could be part of the Brothe

Now you have to admit, this is a horrible sight if you're a Big Brother militia-type patriot/Inner Party member. So what do you do if you're a Party member? Very Simple...all you need to do is to effectively keep the truth, education, the will to succeed and all historical knowledge from the proles, while instilling fear into their hearts through the mythical agencies that 'exterminate, terminate, and vaporize' independent thinkers. Low and behold, that's what INGSOC does. The Party sets up four separate ministries, or departments, which deal with pro-party propaganda, falsifying and destroying of historical records and photographs, the 'dumbing down' of the official language, and creating mass hysteria and hate through omnipresent rocket bombing. The Party then sets up a mysterious, cloak and dagger agency, which strikes fear in the hearts of everyone in Oceania, that is on watch for possible independent thinkers which might end up being a possible future threat.

Let's assume for a moment that somehow the common masses of Oceania found out that all the spurious farce
