Preventing another Holocaust

Over 100 million people have died as a result of war in the 20th Century. That makes this era the most violent in the history of humanity. Six million; this is a large number by anyone's account, whether it be dollars, days, or human lives. "The intentional annihilation of six million people has affected the world in ways that we will never know, maybe the person who could have discovered the cure for Cancer or AIDS died in the gas chambers at Auschwitz." Six million people is fully one-fifth of one percent of the world's population. Six million lives, gone; whole families, wiped out. All this in the span of only five short years. These five years are now known as the holocaust, possibly the worst in human history. It's important for us to consider the effects of this event and learn to never repeat it.

A new political party called the National Socialist German Workers Party, or Nazis, began its climb by bringing back old prejudices and blaming the Jews for

Germany's defeat in the first World War and its economic problems. Germany's discontent after losing World War I, its economic depression, and the spread of anti-Semitism and propaganda throughout Germany made Germans more susceptible to the pleas of extremist groups such as the Nazis. Germans were looking for a quick way out of their problems and, by listening to Hitler, they believed they would find a quick way out.

The Holocaust was a time of loss and great suffering for everyone throughout Europe. Many people still suffer from the memories of yesterday and can only hope that evil of that kind could never come about in this world today. Many lives were taken and a few, after so many years, are still remembered. That is why the history of the Holocaust will never die. The holocaust was a truly deep-set blood stain on the ground that is mankind and his existence on earth. It was probably the single largest mass genocide in th
