Animal Farm - Progressive Elements
There are 5 basic elements in the novel Animal Farm. They are: Exposition, Rising Action, Climax, Falling Action and Resolution. This paper will describe how the author uses each element to smoothly transition through the story.Orwell begins by depicting the scene in the farmhouse in which he introduces all of the characters. The narrator gives the reader a taste of each animal's personality by describing the way each enters the barn. The horses, Clover and Boxer, for example, enter "walking very slowly and setting down their vast hairy hoofs with great care lest there should be some small animal concealed in the straw." (16). This describes the horses in a short and simple manner. The horses are gentle and wish not to take the life of any creature. The pigs, on the other hand, "settled down in the straw immediately in front of the platform." (16). The respected elder pig, Old Major, delivers a moving speech and persuades the animals to rebel and take control of their own lives for the benefit of all. This

In his new consolidation of commandments, the meaning differs from "four legs good, two legs bad" This shows even more disintegration of the principle of animalism. The animals, again, are under the ruling of a master. creates the foundation upon which the rest of the story will be built. The non-existence of a dominant force after Jones has been expelled allows new leadership to emerge. Orwell shows this in a multitude of subtle ways. For example: The pigs transform commandments more than once. Thi
