Continuing Negotiations for reconciliation and remaining loyal to Britain are two very good options for the colonies, but the best choice that is offered at the Second Continental Congress in May 1776 is revolting against Britain. The colonists have tried the other two options and they have failed. They should not give Britain another chance it does not deserve. Surprisingly, the colonists have not rebelled against their mother country sooner with all the hardships that it has been causing the colonists by taxing them harshly. In the past, the colonies have remained loyal to Britain and have argued for their representation in the British Parliament, neither of which have they gained from; so, now the must fight for their freedom. This is the only way for the colonist to obtain what they've wanted. Too many years have be wasted in attempts to gain equality with the British. Now, the only way to gain equality is to break free and become a separate nation as important as Britain is. passed many acts onto the colonists, like the Townshend Revenue Act and the Tea Acts and the Stamps Act, to pay off their war debt. Obviously, the colonists did not like this idea, but what could they do about it? They had no say in Parliament, although the British claim that the colonists have "virtual" representation. Britain claims that because British citizens chose the Parliament delegates, and since the American colonies are British colonies, the delegates also represent the colonists. Yet, if the delegates actually did represent the colonist, they would see that the colonist should not be taxed because it was the British army that fought in the Seven Years W
