St. John

St. John the Evangelist, was the youngest of the twelve apostles. He and his brother James, another apostle, were raised in Galilee with their mother Salome. Salome may have been the sister of the Virgin Mary, which would make John and Jesus cousins. John's father was Zebedee, and Zebedee taught John and his brother to be fishermen, as he was. John was once a disciple of John the Baptist, and he first met Jesus in the Jordan Valley. John was one of the first four disciples called in Galilee, along with James, Peter, and Andrew. John was also one of the three most closely associated disciples with Jesus. John had witnessed the Transfiguration, the raising of Jairus's daughter, and the agony in the garden. "Sons of Thunder" was the nickname that Christ gave John and James, because they were both ready to call down fire from heaven ag

St. John has written three epistles. The first one is for all Christians, and it is called catholic. The other two are shorter than the first, and they are to a local church and Gaius, a very talented entertainer of Christians.

" I saw the Spirit descend as a dove from heaven, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him; but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ' He on whom you see the spirit descend and remain, this is who baptizes with Holy Spirit'. And I have borne witness that this is the Son of God".

" I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, make straight the way of the Lord, as the prophet Isaiah said"

Out of all the apostles, John lived the longest. Which means that he was the only one to not die as a martyr, someone who dies for their religion.

When Christ's sepulcher was open, Mary Magdalen
