The Holocaust 8
A detailed Summary of The Holocaust 8
Nearly six million Jews were killed and murdered "The Holocaust." The word 'holocaust' means, a great raging fire that consumes in it's path all that lives. In the years between 1933 and 1945, the Jews of Europe were marked for total annihilation. The Germans under Adolf Hitler's command believed that the Jews, Homosexuals, Gypsies, Jehova's Witneses, Mentally Retarded, and anyone who did not believe in Nazism were the cause of all the German troubles and were a threat to the German and Christian values. Dating back to the first century A.D. the Jews and Christians were always at war. Hitler believed that if he anialated everyone different from the Nazis Germany would be perfect. He was trying to turn Germany into the "Aryan" race of perfect Germans. He had control over these camps that were used during the war for prisioners. They were called Concentration Camps. These Camps were set up for different purposes. Some for forced labor, others for medical experiments and, later on, for extermination. Transition camps were set up as holding places for death camps. Some of the most known of the death camps were located in Poland. Some of these include Auschwitz (1 million Jews killed), Treblinka (700,000-800

In 1945, the great World War in Europe came to an end, with the Axis powers surrendering before the Allied invasion of Europe. When the concentration camps were liberated and the body counts were counted, the resulting numbers appalled people the world over. Millions were dead. When the allied powers liberated the concentration camps in Germany, Poland, and other areas of Europe, what they found there was beyond belief. Piles of bodies lay rotting in pits and sheds. The sickly thin, infected prisoners wandered about, barely alive after what they had faced. By the time it was all over, an estimated 12 million people lay dead, nearly 6 million of which were Jews. So almost half of the people killed were Jewish. An additional 1.5 million died by the bullets of the mobile death squads. 1/3 of the Jewish poulation was wiped out during the Holocaust. The survivors were lucky to have made it but there are times when their memories and flashbacks and nightmares have made them wish they were the ones who died instead of living with the horrible aftermath. Familys were lost to the survivors. Mothers, Fathers, Sisters, Brothers, Aunts, Uncles, cousins gone. Most survivors watched their familys die in front of them. Some had gone crazy because of what they had seen. Some died imidiatly after because of malnutrition, sickeness that no doctor could help. But some lived on. The flashbacks and dreams must be terrible. But they lived. And do live. And will live.
,000 Jews gassed), Belzec (600,000 Jews gassed), and Sobibor (250,000 Jews gassed). These camps were the major centers for the slaughter of Jews and other groups. When they arrived at the death camps the people were devided into two groups of women, children and another of men. They were stripped of there clothes and valuables and sent with a bar of soap into the
