The Mistreatment of the Amereican Indians

The Mistreatment of the North and Central American Indian

Through out the years, many Native Americans have been cruelly punished for the greed

of other countries. I absolutely disagree with the European's idea that they could just invade a

new land, kill the natives, decide to, "own" the land that rightfully belonged to the Native

Americans. A lot people think that what the Europeans did was great and very important. It was

important, in the sense that we might not have the society we have today if the Europeans didn't

find the Americas, but how could anybody describe the Europeans as, "Great?" In the following

paragraphs I will state more about the treatment that the Indians received in Various events.

America. For example, lets look at the Aztec of present day Mexico. In the 1500's the Spanish

conquistador Hernando Cortes, marched into Tenochtitlan ( the capital of the Aztec empire )

with 600 soldiers. Now lets rewind a bit, and take a closer look at what just happened. Cortes

takes an army of 600 soldiers into an unknown empire which is said to have gold form head to

toe, that already should indicate some kind of hostile intent.

Aztec's leader, Montezuma, captive for six months. So now we see that all Cortes really wanted

struck with some sort of hard object, whether it be bayonet or a stone, the soldiers found

somewhat friendly towards the Aztecs, and then something happened, and, "BAM!" The Spanish

A white witness to this atrocity later recalled:

you don't get out of hand were going to have you escorted by an army. A lot of you will probably
