A detailed Summary of The New Deal

The New Deal was a time period of a great historical era, depression, and destruction. This era included the election of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Great Depression, Roosevelts'' program for fashioning the New Deal, the worst drought in this life time, and Roosevelts' roll in leading the country out of this slump.

Franklin D. Roosevelt couldn't of asked for a worse time to be sworn into presidency. Roosevelt was heading into the countries worst decade, and was going in head first. Roosevelt would soon be put to the task of leading his country through the Depression, and the worst war The United States has ever saw, World War 11.

Franklin D. Roosevelt had grown up in the time of Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson. From these great men, he required a admiration for a strong leadership. He let it be known that he was a powerful man who would take responsibility for his actions. He considered himself a conservative man guided by the motto " Reform, if you would Preserve".

By the end of the 1920s, many people were buying shares of stock and creating a major uprise on Wall Street. Word was getting around that it would be unsafe for such and uprising, but Secretary of Treasury stated that their was no ne

Those words would soon be proved wrong. The consumer spending had been decreasing at a notable rate, a slow down in new construction was setting in, and the boom in automobile sales had come to and end. Despite the words of stock becoming too high, people just kept on investing in stock.

A major cause for this disaster would have to be the Federal Reserve Board for inflating the money supply during this uprising. The easy money policy just made the publics thirst for money grow. Disaster struck, and it struck hard. On October 23, 1929, the stock market would soon start to crumble. Stock prices plummeted at a daily pace.

Hoover started an administration support passage of Agricultural Marketing Act. This act set up a Federal Farm Board, which had a special fund of $500 million to stabilize farm prices and discourage the growing surpluses of crops. This allowed Farm cooperatives to borrow money from the fund to pay for the costs of storing produce until prices were higher.

People tried to keep up their courage. They struggled to assure themselves the hope and prosperity was right around the corner. At the time president Herbert Hoover was getting his share of the blame for the countries predicaments. He wanted to do something to clear his name and help his people.

The Dust Bowel kept most people in captivate, while it harshly destroyed their land and farms. People would become crazy from living indoors day in day out.
