The Renaissance encouraged many changes in society. It opened a whole new era of reasoning and creative thinking. Many ideas of society were developed in this time period. One such idea is the concept of Humanism.

Humanism was an intellectual movement that developed in the heart of the Italian Renaissance. It was a way to focus on worldly subjects, rather than religious issues that had been thought about for centuries. It showed the significance of education, which would stimulate and encourage one's creative powers. Humanistic beliefs were based on the beliefs of the early Romans and Greeks. It directed itself to these areas of study: Grammar, Rhetoric, Poetry, and history. This is an important achievement for Europe because it open a new window; a window to the mind. It finally put an end to the feudalistic society that existed during the "Dark Ages". It also began a renewed interest in art and


An indulgence was a way for the Church to receive money. If a cash gift was given, you and all your family were promised direct salvation. Reformers like Martin Luther and John Calvin had a problem with this. Martin Luther nailed a list of ninety-five problems with the Church right to the church door.
