Humanism was an intellectual movement that developed in the heart of the Italian Renaissance. It was a way to focus on worldly subjects, rather than religious issues that had been thought about for centuries. It showed the significance of education, which would stimulate and encourage one's creative powers. Humanistic beliefs were based on the beliefs of the early Romans and Greeks. It directed itself to these areas of study: Grammar, Rhetoric, Poetry, and history. This is an important achievement for Europe because it open a new window; a window to the mind.
