When turning on the screen and not getting anything that means that your graphics card isn't plugged in all the way.

All this is the way to fix it if you don't feel like taking it in to a computer repair shop. But if you want to have it done proficiently, and don't mind paying 200-300 dollars to have it repaired then that might be the better option.
