Masturbation 2
It is my first year of college and I am forced to write yet another essay. I'm so tired of writing about my career plans, high school, and other boring topics that professors love to ask you to write about. I decided that this time I was going to write about something I would actually learn something interesting, but at the same time have a little fun writing about. The only problem was I had no idea what topic would fit this description. Then for no apparent reason the idea of writing about masturbation pops in my head. I could write about the myths associated with it and how they were all wrong. I wasn't sure how my professor would react when I told her what I had planned. When I told her what I was going to do I expected to hear how it wasn't an appropriate topic. As it turned out she liked my idea and so my topic starts. Masturbation has been part of men's (and women's) life since the beginning of time. Dr. Nathaniel Trice, of the University of Southern California has studied human sexual behavior for twenty years. He states " approximately 95% of men and about 60% of women claim to have masturbated". This does not say how many people masturbate regularly. The frequentness of masturbation varies from person to pers
If masturbation is so good for you and everyone does it, why is it one of those topics never talked about? As we get older and learn about masturbation, we are taught that it is bad. People create myths like the ones I mentioned earlier. If that doesn't scare you enough not to do it, we are told that it is immoral or a sin and that you will go to hell for it. I don't ever remember going to church and hearing the preacher say that in "Next Sunday's sermon we will discuss the 11th commandment: thou shall not masturbate". I am sure that many of us have heard some of the myths surrounding masturbation. Things like how one can go blind, sterile, grow hairy palms, become a nymphomaniac, develop a curved penis or bigger clit lips are myths. In reality, masturbation is actually very good for you. For women in particular, masturbation can help overcome pre-menstrual tension or other physical conditions associated with their menstrual cycles. By releasing tension in the uterus the cramps that are caused during menstruation are reduced. Masturbation can also lead to a more relaxed sleeping condition that can aid in some peoples health. Men can actually reduce the risk of prostate infections by masturbating. Dr. Ken Goldberg wrote in his book "Prime Health and Fitness" that "because the prostate provides some of the fluid in semen, ejaculation may help keep it well drained". He recommends one or two ejaculations a week should be sufficient. If that's true, I know some people whose prostates are squeaky clean including my own. When I first started gathering my information on masturbation I was worried that I might find out that it could be bad for you in some way. But after a few days of looking through what seemed like a ton of documents, articles, and reports on self-ejaculation, I found that it was perfectly safe and normal for both men and women. I still never found out why women are more reluctant then men to admit they do it. Who knows, maybe all women need to go to one of Betty's, Masturbation 101 classes. After writing this essay I've finally found my calling in life. I want to teach women how to masturbate, or maybe just masturbate with women which is basically sex.
