Edward Taylor is considered to be one of the best verse writers in colonial times. Born and raised in England, he went through many of the countries hectic changes. Records of Edward Taylor's birth have not been found; the Taylor families' church records are incomplete because the Civil War between the Puritans and Cavaliers has destroyed to teach. He was educated under a nonconformist schoolmaster and was planning to earn a living as a teacher. As a schoolboy he studies the poetry by George Herbert, which would have a great impact on Taylor. Although he began his career as a teacher in Bagworth, England, he was not able to continue due to the fall of the Cromwell r
