The Reservation in Brave New World is what is left of the old world because of the Nine Years War. It is what life used to be like before everyone was "civilized." The Nine Years War was a global war that brought about the utopian society Brave New World. The citizens of this Brave New World are no longer "viviparous," they are now bred in factories like toys. All these citizens are conditioned to be who and what the government wants them to be. The Reservation is an example of the extreme side of what are life is like today. All the ideas and beliefs are the same but with a little twist. Children are still born, couples still get married, and people still have feelings. Now in Brave New Wor


This shows how the Reservation is represented as a taboo to the government and citizens of Brave New World. The people do not understand why John kills himself because they are trained to have no feelings. The Reservation represents socially unaccepted morals and beliefs which could harm Brave New World. So the government must look down upon the Reservation in order to preserve what they have built, and in order to do that they have trained every living creature to look down upon the Reservation as well.

The Reservation represents to Brave New World what pornography represents to us today. In our society pornography is a taboo, it is unacceptable to have it or talk about it. That is how the government and citizens feel about the Reservation, it is a taboo to them. The government uses the Reservation as a place of punishment for citizens who go against their thought
