Being Digital is book written by Nicholas Negroponte, who I believe has an extremely imaginative mind in the computer field and in multi-media. His book is on the subject of what everyone's life will be like in the years to come. It emphasizes many aspects of the technological industry as being replaced by everything from the way we entertain ourselves to how we express ourselves. At first, Being Digital, was a book I would look at as a boring and pointless but after reading it I feel as though I learned a lot about what technology is capable of achieving and teaching to many of the people in this world. This book is divided into three sections: "Bits are Bits", "Interface", and "Digital Life".

The first part of the book "Bits are Bits", Negroponte reflects on the difference between bits and atoms. I found the difference bet


ween bits and atoms to be some sort of disagreement among the technical industries such as telecommunication, cable television, electronics and computers, and also the information industry. I found that these industries were upset about how the transmissions of bits are being regulated. One view that Negroponte pointed out was the "the medium is no longer the message". By this, I think he meant that in the future or may be even in the next decade or so, bits are going to be handled by us, meaning the receiver.

In part two "Interface", Negroponte continues his topics from the section on bits but more in depth or at the micro-level. This section dealt mainly with the interactions between human and computers.
