much ado about nothing

In Shakespeare's Much Ado about Nothing, he shows the many different qualities of his characters and he uniquely involves four major characters in the web of love. The play is set in Messina, Italy, a small province facing the Straits of Messina, in northeastern Sicily, at the estate of the governor of Messina, Leonato. Don Pedro, Prince of Arragon, Don John, his brother, Borachio his servant, Benedict, a young lord, and Claudio his best friend are all returning from war, and have been invited to stay with Leonato for a month. In this comedy Shakespeare shows the love and human compassion between two couples who take completely different paths to reach the same goal which is making the connection between inward and outward beauty. It has been stated that the love between Beatrice and Benedict is stronger than the love the love of Claudio and Hero. Well that statement will be proven correct throughout this essay because even though Claudio and Hero are learning to love each other they lack the chemistry that Beatrice and Benedict have.

Benedict is a smart, good-looking, and funny guy. He is very witty, and always has a response to anyone's comments. For example, when he is talking to Beatrice, he always has a comment to finish

off the conversation. He also doesn't like the idea of marriage. Benedict thinks that marriage leads to the trapping of men. When he hears about Claudio getting married, Benedict thinks that Claudio is crazy, because Benedict feels that marriage is going to change the way Claudio lives. He is also very stubborn. He never wants to give into other people's ideas, and that is why he doesn't want to give into the idea that marriage could be a good thing in a person's life. Beatrice is a character very similar to Benedict. She is a very independent person, and doesn't want to rely on anyone for support. She also is very smart. She enjoys reading poetry, and thinks about things a lot. She also is against marriage. During one conversation, she says that she would rather die than get married. Another characteristic of Beatrice is that she is very emotional. She often changes her mood all of a sudden for no apparent reason. Also, Beatrice keeps many of her feelings inside her. Sometimes she is angry but won't show it, because she always has to feel strong and look like she doesn't need anyone. The traits and characteristics of Beatrice and Benedict is what brings them together, and also what keep them separate. Beatrice and Benedict are separated because, they always think that they have to be independent, and not need each other. Another factor that keeps them from coming together is that they always fight with each other. In trying to seem strong, they are actually fighting with each other, and hurting each other's feelings. The final thing that keeps Benedict and Beatrice from co
