Also, I always like learning something new. That's one of the reasons why I look forward to taking an online course in Liberal Studies at the University of Illinois, Springfield in the fall of 2006. This degree will give me the opportunity to expand my knowledge, for both professional and personal purposes. For example, I have long wanted to know more about the history of other cultures such as ancient Rome, as well as have academic discussions with people who share my same interests. On the other hand, I do not want my whole academic career to revolve specifically around one subject area, such as history. Rather, I want to receive a well-rounded career about a range of topics such as politics, economics and the social and behavioral sciences. A B.A. in liberal arts at UI offers such experiences.
