Tax Without Representation

The Townsend Act: Four Items Taxed were Lead, Paper, Glass and Tea.

The Americans wanted to pay royal governors out of their own pockets because the British Parliament had no right to tax them since they did not have representatives. Thus, because they had no representation, they declared that they would pay only if such acts were passed by their legislature. Redcoats were British soldiers.
