Interpersonal Communication and Conflict

Identification and definitions of concepts.

People around the world are in constant communication. The reason why there is communication is to share ideas, express our feelings and thoughts, gather information, and exchange messages with other people. Communication includes writing and talking, as well as nonverbal communication (such as facial expressions, body language, or gestures), visual communication (the use of images or pictures, such as painting, photography, video, or film), and electronic communication (telephone calls, electronic mail, cable television, or satellite broadcasts); communication is a vital part of personal life and is also important in business, education, and any other situation where people encounter each other (Lievrouw ,2005). It is through communication that people binds together because they share ideas.

Interpersonal communication happens to everybody because people have developed this kind of conversation even during their childhood days. The most common form of daily communication is interpersonal-that is, face-to-face, at the same time and in the same place (Lievrouw, 2005). Here is the most common form of interpersonal communication based on Lievrouw (2005):

Identify effective listening strategies.

First, describe the specific behavior that bothers you, and then clearly express your feelings.

Interpersonal communication is an interaction with people but especially to our love ones. It is important to communicate with them like to our families because this will serve as a healthy environment within the family. Each one ought to communicate with them to keep each of them updated on what is happening daily. The family enhances their loving relationship through constant communication. Through this, they resolve conflicts, be responsible for each other's feelings and most of all they knew that each of them are member of the family.

Parents who are always busy and spend more time in work than with the family is quite risky with the relationship with their children. But one of the best ways to keep in touch with the children is to call them. Calling y our children while in the office will not eat a lot of time, children need their parents and to be able to feel their presence even when they are not around is to call them. Saying "hi" or "hello" is enough to know that they are fine and they are being loved.

Be specific about the degree to which you are feeling a particular emotion, for example, a little or a lot.
