The history of the digital camera has drastically evolved since the time it was invented up to the present when more and more advancements are seen to make the digital camera a remarkable product. Decades ago, in 1960s, the use of digital imaging was first applied by NASA when they recorded signals sent by the spaces probes. With the help of computer technology, the images were enhanced for clearer view of the images. Similarly, in 1970s, the Texas Instruments was the first to develop an electronic camera that requires no film.Among the present leaders in developing state-of-the-art digital cameras, Sony was the first to commercially release an electronic camera that uses mini-disc and is viewed through a video reader. However, this invention is not yet considered as a digital camera as it was in the form of a still picture taken by a video camera (Bellis, 2006). Another leader in developing cameras, Kodak, also achieved and contributed to the development and improvement of the product. The technology of digital camera makes developing photos inexpensive. There is no more need for films that are apparently not reusable. But, with a digital camera, all that is needed is a space of memory for storage of images. With the birth of the digital camera technology, imaging and photo-editing softwares became in-demand as they make digital imaging more exceptional and realistic.
