Ted Bundy 2
What do serial killers look like? Do they have scars on their face? Are their faces deformed or are their eyes crossed, bloodshot, or dark with mystery? In many or most cases the answers to these questions are true. Unlike most serial killers Theodore Bundy was nothing like this. Many considered Bundy as a charming, handsome, well-educated man. These same people would soon learn how wrong they were. Throughout history there have been many serial killers like Jack the Ripper, John Wayne Gacy, and Charles Manson. Theodore Bundy made himself one of the most famous and most hated serial killers of all time.Behavioral scientists will say that the most important time in a child's development takes place within the first days or weeks of a person's life (Bragdon, 1992, p. 11). The baby should spend this period with the mother and father. This is a time where parents' should especially love and nurture their child. Theodore Bundy was born on November 24, 1946 in a home for unmarried mothers near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After his birth, Ted spent two months in a nursing home without his mother. His grandparents were debating whether to give him up for adoption. This period without the care of his mother, may have determ
Bundy then returned to Tallahassee. While in his room at the Oak, he saw a policeman looking suspiciously at the white van. Bundy sneaked down the fire escape and stole an orange Volkswagen. After some driving a policeman pulled him over. As the policeman approached Bundy got out of the vehicle and Bundy kicked and punched him. Bundy was shot but not killed during a struggle. The policeman finally managed to get handcuffs on Bundy's wrists. Once again Ted Bundy was in the hands of the police (Maberly, 1993). During the years after the trials Bundy admitted killing around 50 women. It is believed that the actual number is closer to 100 or 200 victims (Bragdon, 1992). After nearly nine years of appealing Theodore Robert Bundy was killed on January 24, 1989 in the electric chair (Bragdon, 1992). It took place in the Starke Prison, where outside a crowd outside had gathered. At 7:07 A.M. Bundy was pronounced dead and a cheer rang out from the crowd (Bragdon). In January 1977, Bundy was moved to prison in Aspen, Colorado. With the use of credit card receipts, Bundy was traced to be in Colorado at the same time of the disappearance of five different women (Nash, 1995 p. 188).
