# 10.- Florence Nightingale Graham, better known as, Elizabeth Arden made great contributions throughout American history. Starting out in New York City as a Beauty Specialist's Assistant, who knew that only two years later she would begin to change the face of every women in America. With the help of hired chemists, Arden was able to produce over 300 different types of cosmetic products in the short time of a year. After seven years of long and hard work Arden's products were being sold across the world. By 1922 she had a salon in Paris and later opened more throughout Europe, Australia and South America. At the time of her death over 100 Elizabeth Arden beauty salons were up and running throughout the world in which a variety of beauty treatments could be given. I chose Elizabeth Arden to be a part of my list because she has changed the cosmetics industry as we know it. # 9.- Princess Grace Kelly has contributed a great deal to the history of America. Through acting and entertainment Grace has managed to turn on the people of America to such classics as Rear Window and Dial M for Murder. # 3.- Wilma Rudolph was chosen for my top ten list because of her amazing ability to overcome her handicap. As a young girl, Rudolph had only one functional leg. Only the hardest of exercises finally enabled her to walk at age eight. When Wilma was eleven a specially reinforced shoe helped her progress physically. Throughout high school she was a star sprinter and basketball player. Wilma eventually went on to the Olympics and became the first American woman runner to win three gold medals in the same Olympics. # 6.- Excellent and established poet and dancer Maya Angelou has been put on my list because of her accomplishments through speaking and poetry. Maya's masterpieces have touched the hearts of millions in America. Maya herself has managed to travel all around the world. She has explored such places as Europe, Africa and almost all of America. Overall she has toured in over 22 different countries. To this day Angelou continues to speak across America and was even chosen to deliver a poem at the inauguration of President Bill Clinton in 1993. # 1- Eleanor Roosevelt has to have been the most influential woman in America ever. She has supported every single type of issue or right that needed to be. Belonging to so many organizations, aids, charities, foundations and societies taught Eleanor so much about life, which is why she was so good at dealing with it and others. She played a major role in composing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Eleanor has made so many contributions to America. Too many to list.
