When looking at this study we must look at it's internal, external, and construct validity. Along with whether or not the conclusions of the author are justified and that this study is ethically right. When looking at the internal validity of this experiment we must first see what the independent and dependent variables are. So when we look at this we see that the independent variable is if the students are normal or if they are ones that had special consideration when being selected to be accepted to the medical school. This then leads us to find the dependent variable which is how well these students then did after being accepting. Then to decide if this experiment is internal valid we must see if this relationship can be observed. So when we look at the results we see that only 20% of the people accepted over the period of this study were special consideration students. And out of thes
e 53.5% were minority students, while 19% of regular admissions were minority students. This study then should that only 94% special students graduated, while 97% of regular admission students graduated. We also find out from the results that regular admissions students received better grades on core basic and clinical courses. This information then shows that this relationship between the two variables can be observed thus making it internally valid.
The final things that I will look at are if the author's conclusions are justified and whether or not this study is ethically right. First we look at their conclusions in which they state that this had no affect on the quality of the graduates. We can prove this by the data found in the results section pertaining to what their overall rate of graduating. When we look at this we see that there is really no change in the amount of people that graduate thus proving
