I think that some people should get the right to freedom of speech and others shouldn't. I think the only way you can give a speech in front of a public place like a college campus, is if you don't discriminate a religion or a race in any way. I'm going to talk about the speech from John Stuart Mill's On Liberty. He talks about freedom of opinion, and freedom of the expression of opinion, on four distinct grounds.

John Stuart Mill first talked about opinion and silence. He said, "any opinion is compelled to silence," from that I think that he meant that anyone who has an opinion that they want to express but can't because they are not allowed to speak their mind because of how bad it is. But that is another example of freed


For the third and last thing that John Stuart Mill talked about was how an opinion is not the truth, it's just an opinion and it can not be true because it doesn't have any facts. If a person were to have the right to freedom of speech, Mill says, "those who receive it, be held in the manner of a prejudice, with little comprehension of feeling of its rational grounds." What I think Mill is trying to say is that some people that have the right to freedom of speech might have some prejudice in them and offend the people around.

Second, John Stuart Mills talks about the truth of an opinion. He says, "since the general or prevailing opinion on any subject is rarely or never the whole truth," I think that when and if you get the chance to give a speech
