A detailed Summary of Justice Is Blind


The age in Athens in which Draco, a noble, lived, was an age of disorder. Athens drastically needed a code of law. Without one they feared civil war would begin. Draco, therefore, was appointed to draw one up.

This code was very similar to Hammurabi's code, but was not based on it. Like Hammurabi, Draco believed that punishment for crimes should be harsh. He believed cruel punishments would deter people away from committing crimes. However, Draco introduced the concept that justice should be blind; ever
